Getting Out Of Town.

Here's a picture I took while I was home last weekend. Today I am venturing to Tennessee for the Carolina v. Tennessee game. It is Greek Impact's fall retreat and I am so ready to see some mountains! I always find them so inspirational.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Pumpkin Coffee Cake.

I had never been much of a baker before I went to college and didn't have a kitchen. Now, whenever I am home, I have an overwhelming desire to bake all of the things I have pinned on pinterest. This is my first full-fledged baking post. Enjoy!

How to make the most amazing Pumpkin Coffee Cake:
 You will need water, pureed pumpkin (15oz), 2 whole eggs, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, 1 box yellow cake mix, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cups flour, 1/3 cups walnuts (chopped, I chose not to include them), 4 tablespoons butter (melted), 1/4 cups granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 cups heavy whipping cream

Instructions:
preheat oven to 350F
in a large bowl, mix together the water, pumpkin, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, pumpkin pie spice and eggs until combined

add the cake mix and baking soda and mix until just combined

Grease a 9x13 pan with butter and pout the batter into the pan

In a small bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, walnuts, and melted butter
 use your fingers to sprinkle over top of the cake, bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
and now for the glaze...combine the other 1/2 cup brown sugar, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and heavy cream in a saucepan. bring to a simmer. remove from heat and stir until all sugar is dissolved.

and now we wait...
when cake is finished, poke holes in the top with a toothpick then pour the glaze over the cake. cover all surfaces. enjoy warm or at room temperature by the fire with a cup of coffee.

Have a great day!

It's about time I had an outfit post!
I am so glad to be reunited with my fall wardrobe. This season I am obsessed with shapeless silhouettes and drop-waists. It reminds me so much of the 1920s. However, being the short person I am, I have always leaned towards high-waists and more figure-flattering outfits. I am branching out now, I hope you like!
Happy Monday!

Mesmerized.

 currently the background on my computer..mmm

I am living in the future. In Italy, to be exact. Dreaming of all I will do, see, eat, wear. It seems too good to be true. But boy, I hope it's true.
For now, I must take hold of the present. I have so much for which to be grateful. There hasn't been a cloud in the sky, my family is wonderful, and I am happy to be home, even for just a few days.
I have been particularly mesmerized by fall colors lately. Obviously, every post of mine has had something to do with the season. But more of how the colors coordinate. Something about the blue sky, orange leaves, and green grass. It photographs well. It is a joy to gaze upon. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this post. I'm not quite sure what I am doing at all right now. But I know that I am joyful. I know that I have so much joy ahead of me. And so much joy before me.
I haven't been inspired much lately--just content. And as the definition goes, I guess that's alright with me.

And a big thank you to tumblr for letting me know my obsession with Jason Bateman isn't weird. He's so handsome, and THAT HAIR.
Alright, enjoy your Saturday. We are having a low country boil on the farm. I know you're jealous.

Look What I Made!

At school I don't have a kitchen, so the majority of the semester I dream of all the foods I want to cook. Pinterest has a lot to do with the recipe hunting. As soon as I get home it's time to cook. The parents really enjoy this. First I made Apple Streusel Muffins. They were DELICIOUS. I love fall flavors like apple, pumpkin, and cinnamon. I found a great blog post chock full of fall recipes, enjoy. And I saw some gorgeous orange leaves today. Pictures to come soon!
Happy Friday. TGIF.

Sweater Weather.

It's sweater time! Meaning I am home and finally in contact with my extensive fall wardrobe. Hopefully I can get some outfit posts in this weekend. It is fall break and I will be spending the next four days at my home, in my queen bed, with my family, dogs, horses and friends from home. Wonderful. Also, I plan on doing many fall things while I'm here, prepare yourselves. I want to drink homemade apple cider, carve pumpkins, and jump in huge piles of leaves. Let's hope this turns out as planned, because the leaves don't change in Columbia.

Arrested Development.

Here is my new serious addiction. Arrested Development is probably one of the best shows I have ever seen. I know this is a little  really delayed but it's on Netflix and I have almost watched all three seasons. I am so excited for the mini-series that is going to take place before the movie! Each character is flawlessly portrayed and plays a vital part in the chemistry of the show. Every episode is absolutely hilarious.
For those of you who have yet to jump on the Arrested Development bandwagon, the show is about a ridiculously wealthy family. The father, the CEO of the Bluth Company, gets in big trouble for spending the company's money on personal luxuries and goes to jail, leaving all the companies accounts frozen. The family cannot seem to change their lifestyle, despite the middle son, Michael's (played by Jason Bateman) attempts at stopping the spending. I highly suggest you check it out.

Psalm 27
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
   whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
   of whom shall I be afraid?

 2 When the wicked advance against me
   to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes
   who will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
   my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
   even then I will be confident.

 4 One thing I ask from the LORD,
   this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
   all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
   and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
   he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
   and set me high upon a rock.

 6 Then my head will be exalted
   above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
   I will sing and make music to the LORD.

 7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
   be merciful to me and answer me.
8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
   Your face, LORD, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me,
   do not turn your servant away in anger;
   you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
   God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
   the LORD will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, LORD;
   lead me in a straight path
   because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
   for false witnesses rise up against me,
   spouting malicious accusations.

 13 I remain confident of this:
   I will see the goodness of the LORD
   in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD;
   be strong and take heart
   and wait for the LORD.
