Music Monday.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”
Hebrews 12:28-29
Last night at Midtown, the service focused on the death of Jesus. I've heard the sermon several times before, but this one really stuck with me. The whole time the pastor was talking about all the gory details of His death, I just wanted to save Him. I wanted to stop the madness. Let Him know I'm not worth saving. But no, He drank the cup until it was finished. Out of His infinite love for me. So what then? I wondered. What comes next? I began to see the crucifixion as fuel. As the motivation for how I live. This verse helped me a lot this morning, as well. We are to respond with thankfulness and worship because of all He has done for us.

This might be a regular thing for the blog, Music Monday. I do like the idea of sharing the songs I have on repeat on a weekly basis. Here is my favorite song as of the last three days. Judah and the Lion is a Christian band. Their sound is very much like Mumford and Sons and Avett Brothers. Lots of banjos and beautiful lyrics. These though are clearly directed to the Lord and I can't help but listen to them over and over again.

Enjoy.

Cargo Pants.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Philippians 2:3-4
Lately the Lord has been drilling into my head that life is not all about me. It's about Him. And when I turn my focus to Him, I realize it is much easier to work with people when we have a unified center. We are a team. I want to write this verse on my heart. I want to remember it every day.

Happy first day of Spring, everyone! I don't know about you, but I am so ready for springtime and flowers and shorts. Miami was such a tease.

Miami Photo Diary

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Romans 12:9

Here are my favorite photos from my spring break trip to Miami. It was such a wonderful experience. I met incredible people, and had the opportunity to work with some adorable children. God used this trip for all of us, and I am so thankful.

 Such an incredible experience.

MIAMI

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:9

Hi everyone. Just a little update. I am in Miami with Midtown Fellowship for Spring break. It has been so much fun but right now I don't have enough time to fill you in. I will say that my group is spectacular. I have made such wonderful new friends and the Lord is teaching me a lot. This morning we went to a school for international children and I had 3-4 year-olds climbing all over me and fighting over sitting in my lap. It was a blast. We've spent some time on the beach, as well. I am happily sunburnt. Loving all of this.

Until next time!

Tornado.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 130:5-6
I am so bad at waiting. I want instant gratification. I want to know NOW. The Lord is teaching me that He doesn't work like that. And His ways are much better. He needs to be my relief.

It was very, very, VERY windy while taking these pictures. Please excuse my efforts to keep my hair from becoming a horrific, tangled mess.

Light.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
This verse is very convicting for me today, because it's so NOT me. I am oftentimes the last person to be rejoicing, the last one to pray or give thanks. Thank God for grace, right? I love verses like this, though. Easy to remember when times get tough. I want to remember this one.
Today the Lord showed me how He feels about me. Or a little glimpse. I so often find myself frustrated with people who aren't doing what I think is best for them. I want to control other people, control their decisions. I hate to watch people do things that will (in my opinion) lead them down a wrong path. God showed me that He feels the same way about ME. He could very easily control me and make me change my decisions, but He doesn't. He wants me to learn, to grow, and He loves me no matter what I choose. I am so thankful for this reminder. I need to have this attitude toward everyone, because it's His toward me.

A nice little change of scenery. Sorry for the monotonous locations in the past few outfit posts. I am searching for some better settings. Today, my dining area. The lighting is so beautiful here during the day.
