Artful.

Some pictures I took of my sister yesterday. I think they turned out quite lovely.
I finished reading Swamplandia! by Karen Russell today. I wish I could say I loved it, but I do not concur with the rave reviews. Maybe it was the less-than-ideal storyline for my taste. But I felt that it began slow, and continued at the same speed until it was over. But still entertaining and if you are looking for a relaxing summer read, I recommend it.
I apologize for my lack of post yesterday. There have been so many wonderful posts I have read this week, I almost prefer reading them to posting my own! There are some great bloggers out there. I will be picking some to spotlight this Saturday.
Summer is winding down. I am returning to Columbia, SC for school next Saturday. I am thoroughly excited for the semester, however I may have to cool it on the posts. 3 a week would be ideal. I will do my best to make them good ones! Until then, enjoy the photos and almost daily posts for the next week.
Thank you all for your lovely comments on my last two posts. So encouraging!!

"In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
1 Peter 1:6-9
I love how this verse compares our faith to gold. Even more valuable, in fact. And if gold must be refined through fire, so must our faith. Figuratively speaking. These struggles we go through are the fire that makes us that much more precious. So if you are struggling right now, remember that it takes fire to make gold into something beautiful.

  1. great pictures. your sister loook lovely by her horse's side. loving her brogues. hope back to school goes great for you and goes smoothly from summer to school. The verse has such a wonderful message of "takes fire to make gold" and look above the circumstance to possible better days ahead.
